An all star early New England music ensemble joined by local shapenote singers will present music for Juneteenth, including music from a newly discovered manuscript of music by Connecticut composer Sawney Freeman, selections from the repertoire of Greenfield, MA violinist and "father of contradance" John Putnam, and gems of early harmony singing from the Abolition movement.
